The game basketball was invented by a guy
named Dr. James Naismith. naismith was a teacher at the YMCA training
school in Springfeild, Massachusetts. The gamme was invented so
that there would be a sport that was during the long boaring winter
months.
Dr. James Naismith's class was tired of the
activities that they had to do for the long boaring winter months
so his clss encouraged him to make a new sport. Naismith took
up the idea of making a new sport for his class to practice so
he was to beileved to take two peach and a soccer ball. Then he
made 13 rules for the new game that we will later call basketball.
Naismith then divided the class into 2 teams of 9.(three gaurds,
three forwards, and three centers.)
The object he told the class was to try and
throw the ball into the peach basket that was nailed to the bleachers
inside the gym. I if the team made a bucket the game would stop
and the janitor would have to take a ladder and get the soccerball
out of the hoop. Later a man came up with the idea of cutting
out the bottom of the basket so the ball would go all the way
through the basket.
